Complexity sciences provide a new theoretical background to the study of football, going beyond the traditional statement which has guided many training courses during decades: ‘This is how things have always been done in football’ (as if there were no other possible alternatives). Both Francisco (Paco) Seirul·lo and Vítor Frade concurred that the traditional approach to study football based on individual sports did not satisfied the singularity of the sport and, thus, investigated for new training strategies which were supported in a solid theoretical framework and contrasted in top-class scenarios, which enriched the quality of their proposals.
